The story of Emily, a British woman struggling to bring up two teenage daughters and a toddler in Tuscany while still caught up in her own unresolved romantic dreams. The writing evokes Italy with great charm, but digs beneath the banalities of picture postcard images to explore the darker side of the country's recent past. It is thoughtful and entertaining, and alongside the romance, it asks some big questions about loyalty. It's a great read..
